Our history
Principle Capital was founded in November 2004. The founders previously ran Active Value, an investment management business whose history dates back to 1989.
Principle Capital is led by Brian Myerson, who along with his co-founders, has pioneered the activist style of investing in the London market since 1989. At Active Value the founders of Principle Capital managed 8 closed-end funds and 4 co-investment vehicles from 1993 with a combined total of invested capital exceeding US$900 million.
In 2004, with the last Active Value fund shortly coming to a close, the Principle Capital founding partners decided to create a new branded business model focused on managing and advising closed-end permanent capital structures in its traditional activist strategy. Since then we have rolled out this format into offering permanent capital vehicles for other suitable long term alternative investment strategies.
Principle Capital is solely involved in asset management, has no other competing investment strategies and does not provide any other services to the financial community, thereby minimising the potential for conflicts of interest.
